TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College's Mary Schlosbon has been named the 2016 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Softball.

The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar-athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors. Chosen at the conclusion of each sport season, the eight spring honorees are being announced this week and next week.

"Mary has epitomized the word student-athlete since she came to Moravian," commented Head Coach John Byrne. "Not only has she been an outstanding player on the field that earned All-Conference honors three times, but she has worked even harder to be an outstanding student in the classroom. She played the game the right way in our program, and Mary has been such a positive example on and off the field that we had her serve as a team captain this year. We wish Mary all the best in her future career, and she knows that she'll always be a part or the Moravian softball program."

Schlosbon completed her Bachelor's degree in psychology along with a minor in sociology this month while finishing her final year of athletic eligibility for the Greyhounds.

This spring, Schlosbon helped Moravian capture its second straight and seventh overall Landmark Conference Championship. The squad went on to compete in the 2016 NCAA Division III Ithaca, New York Regional, the program's 16th NCAA Tournament appearance, and Moravian finished the year with a 37-6 record.

Schlosbon was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive spring after a nod on the All-Conference Second Team in 2014. She hit .333 with 46 hits, 27 runs, three doubles, three triples and seven RBIs this season. Schlosbon finished her career with 153 hits, tied for 13th in the record books, and she is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll and a two-time selection to the Landmark Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Team.

Schlosbon served as a member of Moravian's residence life staff during her career, and she was named to the Dean's List five times.
