Greyhounds Move Back Up to No. 8 in Latest NFCA DIII Top 25 Poll

The Moravian College softball team is No. 8 in the latest NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian College softball squad moved back up three spots to No. 8 in the latest 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll.

Moravian, which is 32-5 on the season, has been ranked in all but one week of the poll this season including No. 11 last week after two weeks in sixth. The Hounds were 10th a month ago and ranked 13th, 17th, tied for 16th and 22nd in the four previous polls. The Blue and Grey were ranked 18th in the preseason poll and 17th in the first regular season poll on February 28 before falling into the receiving votes category after a 3-3 mark in the 2018 NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Tucson, Arizona to open the season in the first week of March. The Blue and Grey completed the Spring Break trip west with a 6-0 mark in the Tucson Invitational to move back into the poll.

To finish off the Tucson Invitational, Moravian posted a 5-0 victory over the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.), which 13th in this week's poll, while two of the Greyhounds' three losses at the Leadoff Classic were to No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University in extra innings and No. 7 the University of St. Thomas (Minn.). Moravian also has a 7-5 win at the Leadoff Classic over Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which s 20th this week.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Friday, May 11 plays Salisbury (Md.) University in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Regional in Ewing, New Jersey with first pitch set for 12:00 p.m.
