Softball ranked No. 14 in final 2018 NFCA DIII Top 25 Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian College softball squad has finished the 2018 season ranked No. 14 in the final 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll.

Moravian, which posted a 36-8 record on the season, was ranked in all but one week of the poll this season including No. 8 before the start of the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament. The squad was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation for two weeks and began the year at No. 18 in the Preseason poll.

Of the Greyhounds' eight losses on the season, four were to teams ranked in the final Top 25 including an extra-inning loss to No. 1 and 2018 NCAA DIII Champion Virginia Wesleyan University, two losses to No.7 Rowan University in the NCAA DIII Super Regionals and one to No. 11 The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with the games versus Virginia Wesleyan and St. Thomas at the NFCA DIII Leadoff Classic in Tucson, Arizona to begin the season in March.

Moravian did have victories versus No. 8 Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, No. 23 The College of New Jersey in the NCAA DIII Ewing, N.J. Regional and No. 24 the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) at the Tucson Invitational.

The Hounds also had two victories and a loss over Salisbury (Md.) University, which received votes and was one spot outside of the final Top 25, and a win over Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University, which also received votes, in the NCAA Ewing, N.J. Regional.
