O'Rourke Named Landmark Women's Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Senior guard Katie O'Rourke of the Moravian College women's basketball team has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance last week.

O'Rourke had her first double-double of the season and the fourth of her career with 23 points and 11 rebounds in Moravian's 69-51 loss at No. 11 Montclair State University last Tuesday. The Greyhounds had won eight straight before the setback and head into their semester break with an 8-2 overall mark with both losses coming against nationally-ranked teams on the road. Moravian is also 2-0 in Landmark action.

O'Rourke connected on 7-of-14 field goal attempts and 9-of-10 at the foul line in the game versus the Red Hawks, and she added two steals while playing a team high 35 minutes in the contest.

"Katie was terrific in the game at Montclair State," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She was unstoppable on both ends of the court, and she was a force on the boards and in the scoring column. Katie has stepped up her game and will need to continue to do so moving forward.

The Greyhounds will return to action after a 16-day layoff when the host the 13th Annual Roosevelt's Moravian Winter Classic in Johnston Hall on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4. Moravian will play John Jay (N.Y.) College on Friday at 7:00 p.m. after the tournament opens with Immaculata University and Wilkes University at 5:00 p.m.
