Greyhounds Fall to FDU-Florham in 2017 Opener on John Makuvek Field

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team opened its 2017 season with its first-ever match on the new turf John Makuvek Field, falling to visiting FDU-Florham, 15-3.

Sophomore midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto, sophomore attack Kyleigh Miller and junior midfielder Kristen Baxter each scored a goal for the Greyhounds while sophomore attack Jessica Pisano added two assists.

Sophomore goalie Kelley Gavin posted 10 saves in the match while Baxter and Picciuto each caused two turnovers. Junior midfielder Alexis Kersten scooped up a team-high six ground balls while Baxter had three ground balls and Picciuto had two to go with three draw controls. Freshman defender Allie Fisher added two draw controls.

Miller scored Moravian's first goal of the season with just over five minutes to play on a feed from behind the net by Pisano. Baxter netted her first goal as a Greyhound with 1:30 remaining and Picciuto finished off the scoring in the final 30 seconds with her 65th career goal, which is seventh in school history.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 1 when the Blue and Grey host King's College in a non-conference contest on John Makuvek Field beginning at 4:00 p.m.
