Women's Lacrosse Falls to Scranton in Landmark Conference Action

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse squad dropped a 20-9 decision at The University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Freshman midfielder Liz Bill led the Hounds, who are 6-4 overall and 0-2 in Landmark Conference play, with four goals and an assist while sophomore attack Jessica Pisano had a hat trick. Sophomore midfielder Jillian Picciuto added a goal and four assists while freshman midfielder Allie Brembt had a goal.

Sophomore goalie Kelley Gavin had seven saves in 36 minutes of action while junior keeper Elisabeth Pontius added one save. Picciuto had five draw controls while Bill contributed four draw controls. Sophomore defender Jacqueline LaCava led the Greyhounds with four ground balls and three caused turnovers while junior midfielder Kristen Baxter and freshman defender Dayna Trotter each had three ground balls. Freshman attack Sarah Kunzman contributed two caused turnovers while freshman defender Allie Fisher had a pair of ground balls.

Bill opened the scoring for Moravian just 20 seconds into the match; however, Scranton scored the next five goals to take a lead it would not relinquish. Pisano netted a goal and Bill scored again but the Royals lead 13-3 at halftime.

Bill and Pisano opened the second half with goals to get Moravian within eight points. That would be as close as the Greyhounds would get over the final 30 minutes of action.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, April 15 when the squad hosts Drew University in a Landmark Conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
