Women's Lacrosse Wins First-Ever Landmark Conference Match with 17-4 Victory at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team earned its first-ever Landmark Conference victory as the squad topped Goucher College, 17-4, on the road Saturday to close out the 2017 regular season with a 7-8 record.

Sophomore midfielder/attack Jillian Picciuto led the Hounds with nine goals and three assists to bring her season total to 97 points and her school record career mark to 199 in two seasons. Freshman midfielder Liz Bill contributed four goals and an assist while sophomore attack Dalia Aguilar netted a pair of goals. Sophomore attack Jessica Pisano and freshman defender Allie Fisher each scored once while sophomore attack Kyleigh Miller added an assist.

Sophomore goalie Kelley Gavin had two saves while playing the first half of the contest while junior keeper Elisabeth Pontius played the final 30 minutes. Picciuto and Fisher each had four draw controls while freshman defender Dayna Trotter added four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Bill also added four ground balls while sophomore defender Jacqueline LaCava had three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the victory.

Goucher opened the scoring just 1:53 into action before Aguilar and Picciuto scored to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead with 25:07 on the clock. The Gophers scored the next goal but Picciuto would give Moravian the lead for good with 14:36 before the intermission with her 56th goal of the season. Picciuto's goal started a nine-goal run to end the half as the Greyhounds headed to the intermission with an 11-2 lead.

The Gophers scored first in the second half before six straight goals including four by Picciuto sealed the victory.
