Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to Eastern Nazarene College

Bethlehem, Pa.---The Moravian College women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 on the road in a non-conference match at Eastern Nazarene College.

Senior forward Kirsten Schall would have the first shot of the match but would miss just high. Despite struggling with on sides call the Greyhounds would head into half 0-0 against the Lions.

The Blue and Grey controlled the start of the second half with sophomore forward Melissa Walko firing a shot off four minutes into the half that resulted in a block. Another Greyhound looking for a goal was sophomore Valentina Margiottiello but came up empty handed in the 55th minute.

The Lions would score on a breakaway to put the first points on the board in the 60th minute. They would score again on a one time shot in the box in the 78th minute for the only scores of the match.

The Hounds would have eight different players looking to put one in the back of the net but falling just shy each time. Moravian outshot the Lions of Eastern Nazarene 7-3 in the second half.

Junior midfielder Catherine Lamplugh, junior midfielder Melissa Pavia and sophomore defender Emeley Reyes would all take turns trying to get on the board for the Greyhounds. Lamplugh's shot in the 86th minute was saved by the keeper, Pavia's shot in the 88th minute resulted in a team save and Reyez would also be saved by the keeper.

Junior goalkeeper Jacqueline Zalis would record three saves for the match.

The Moravian women's soccer team will travel for a non-conference night game on Wednesday, September 10 against Neumann University.
