Schall & Bertucci Earn All-Conference Honors; Schall Selected as Offensive Player of the Year

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior forward Kirsten Schall has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in three years, and she earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team while freshman defender Lauren Bertucci was selected to the All-Conference Second Team.

"We are all very proud for Kirsten to receive this honor," stated first-year Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "She has a professional approach to everything she does and was a pleasure to coach this year. Her ability to score in different ways is what separates her from the rest. She also played big in critical moments this season which is necessary for players to do so in order to receive this award."

Schall was the Landmark Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2012, and she has earned the All-Conference honors in each of her four seasons, earning spots on the Landmark All-Conference First Team this fall and in 2012 and the All-Conference Second Team in 2011 and 2013. She is also a two-time selection to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and she made the Capital One Academic All-District Team this fall and is eligible for Capital One Academic All-America accolades that will be announced on November 21.

"Kirsten was our work horse up top all season," Ykoruk said. "She was the known and teams still struggled with how to defend her. She is a high caliber player and leader and will be very difficult to replace."

This season, Schall tied the school record with 16 goals, and she added one assist for 33 points. Schall, one of the team's tri-captains this fall for the second straight year, finished her career ranked third in school history with 35 career goals, fourth with 18 career assists and third all-time with 88 points for the Greyhounds.

Bertucci started in 16 matches on defense for the Greyhounds in her debut season. She helped the Hounds post five shutouts, and Bertucci added 10 shots in the year.

"Lauren was amazing in the back this season," commented Ykoruk. "Her athleticism, tenacity and ability to control the air allowed us to defend at such a higher level. This is a great start for her soccer career here at Moravian and we are all happy for her."

The Hounds posted a 7-10-1 record this fall and 2-4-1 in Landmark action.
