Schall Earns Capital One Academic All-District IV Honors

Bethlehem, Pa. --- The 2014 Capital One Academic All-District IV NCAA Division III Soccer Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America named senior forward Kirsten Schall of the Moravian College women's soccer team to that list.

To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Beginning in 2011-12, the program is made up of four levels – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division (NAIA, Canadian colleges and junior colleges).  District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 42 Greyhounds named Capital One Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District First Team, Schall is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for Capital One Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Friday, November 21.

Schall, who is majoring in psychology with a minor in education, is one of Moravian's tri-captains this season and has started in all 66 games that she has played in. Schall has tied the Moravian College women's soccer single season record with her 16 goals this season, and she is third in school history with 35 career goals and third all-time with 88 points for the Greyhounds. Schall leads the Landmark Conference in goals (16) and points (33).

Schall was the 2012 Landmark Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year, earning a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team, has been on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team in 2011 and 2013 and is a two-time selection to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. She is also active on campus as the soccer representative for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of Psi Chi the psychology honors club.

"Our staff and players are all very proud of Kirsten for achieving this honor," commented Head Women's Soccer Coach Jeff Ykourk." It's clear that her hard work and dedication take place both on the field and in the classroom."
