Hounds Blank Delaware Valley for Fourth Straight Win

Bethlehem, Pa. --- Senior forward/midfielder Kirsten Schall kept up her torrid scoring streak with pair of goals as the Moravian College women's soccer posted a 3-0 win over Delaware Valley College on the HUB Quad Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds have won four straight matches with Schall scoring at least once in each contest and a total of nine times in the winning streak. Schall opened the scoring Saturday when she took a through ball from senior defender Kaylan Bruzzone and took a shot from 16 yards out with the goalie off the line in the 14th minute of action for her ninth goal of the season.

Moravian made the lead 2-0 in the 34th minute as sophomore forward Melissa Walko  started the play with a crossing pass that junior midfielder Taylor Blake one-touched onto the foot of sophomore defender Emeley Reyes, who blasted a shot from 10-yards out for her second goal of the season.

Schall finished off the scoring in the 63rd minute when she got her own rebound off of a header and roofed the ball into the top of the net for her 10th goal of the season. The goal gave Schall 29 tallies in her Moravian career, which is fifth in school history, and 75 career points, which is fourth in the record books.

Junior goalie Jacqueline Zalis made a pair of saves in 72 minutes of action while freshman keeper Jessica Lawton played the final 18 minutes to finish the clean sheet. Moravian had a 16-4 advantage in shots and a 13-0 edge in corner kicks in the victory.

"If you have 13 corners and 16 shots you are doing the right in the attacking area," stated Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "Another shutout, outstanding effort from Lauren Bertucci and Christine Miklas, along with our keepers with two games in a row with no goals allowed."

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 24 in a non-conference match at DeSales University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
