Women's Soccer Falls in Non-Conference Action at Albright

READING, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match at Albright College Tuesday evening, falling 2-0 to the Lions in the Greyhounds final tune-up before conference play begins this weekend.

The Hounds, now 3-3-1, had five corner kicks in each half that set up several scoring opportunities but Moravian was unable to capitalize. Freshman midfielder Juliana Caranci had a shot on goal early before hitting the post in the 39th minute while sophomore forward Gabby Stelzmiller forced a diving save with a shot in the 29th minute for the Blue and Grey.

With the match still scoreless early in the second half, junior forward Abby Guman ripped a shot on goal that needed another strong save just 1:49 after the intermission. Albright broke the tie in the 60th minute, and the Lions scored again in the 78th minute. In between the goals, freshman defender Paige Weiss headed another shot off of the post in the 71st minute for the Hounds.

Moravian junior goalie Jessica Lawton had seven saves.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, September 24 when the squad begins Landmark Conference action with a match versus The University of Scranton beginning at 4:00 p.m. at John Makuvek Field in Bethlehem.
