Hounds Improve to 4-0 with Two More Wins in Greyhound Premiere

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a pair of victories Saturday on the second day of the 14th Annual Greyhound Premiere in Johnston Hall and Breidegam Fieldhouse.

Moravian topped Alvernia University, 25-18, 28-26, 26-24, in its first match of the afternoon before the Hounds defeated Pitt-Bradford, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15 to finish the tournament undefeated. Junior outside hitter Mary Zacher and sophomore middle blocker Erin Tiger earned spots on the All-Tournament Team for the Greyhounds.

Zacher led the Blue and Grey with 12 kills, 10 digs and a pair of service aces in the match versus Alvernia. Senior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann added 11 kills, six digs and a pair of blocks while Tiger had nine kills and two blocks. Freshman setter Victoria Kauffman led the Moravian offense with 38 assists while adding six digs and three service aces, and junior libero Jean Markovic had a team-high 14 digs. Freshman outside hitter Brooke Kusmider added five kills and nine digs.

Zacher also led Moravian in the squad's final match of the tournament as she recorded 15 kills, 18 digs and two services aces against Pitt-Bradford. Kornmann and Tiger each pounded 10 kills and added two blocks while senior right side hitter Jaclyn Smith had eight kills and four blocks. Kusmider contributed five kills, 16 digs and five service aces while Markovic posted 28 digs and three service aces. Kauffman had 49 assists, 11 digs and a pair of service aces.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 7 in a non-conference match at DeSales University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
