Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches in Tri-Match at Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday in a non-conference tri-match at Messiah College.

The Hounds, now 4-3 on the season, dropped a five-set match to Gettysburg College, 25-12, 22-25, 25-22, 24-26, 17-15, in the middle contest of the day. Junior outside hitter Mary Zacher led the Blue and Grey with 17 kills, two service aces and 11 digs while senior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann added 10 kills and a pair of blocks. Freshman outside hitter Brooke Kusmider contributed eight kills, eight digs and four service aces while sophomore middle blocker Erin Tiger had six kills and three blocks. Senior right side hitter Jaclyn Smith also had three blocks to go with three kills while freshman setter Victoria Kauffman added 33 assists, 15 digs and six blocks. Junior libero Jean Markovic posted a team high 25 digs in the match.

Moravian finished off the afternoon with a three set match versus the host Falcons, falling 25-25, 25-13, 25-10. Kusmider and Zacher led the Greyhounds in the second contest with seven kills, and Zacher added 13 digs. Kornmann contributed five kills while Kauffman had 17 assists. Markovic posted another 10 digs in the contest.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 14 when Moravian hosts rival Muhlenberg College in a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match in Johnston Hall.
