BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Former Moravian College defensive back/linebacker Nick Zambelli '19 will be heading to the west coast later this month to attend the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame's Third Annual Campbell Trophy Summit, sponsored by Intuit, Inc. at Stanford University from August 14-17.
The summit is a gathering of approximately 214 previous nominees for the William F. Campbell Trophy as well as former Campbell winners, entrepreneurs and CEOs. The 2019 event will provide a powerful opportunity for the members of the Campbell Trophy® community to interact and learn from many of the nation's top entrepreneurs and Silicon Valley CEOs about the lessons that have guided them to the highest levels of success. The event will also include a career expo with more than a dozen companies on site recruiting the attendees. Organized as a tribute to the late Bill Campbell, the award's namesake, the event serves as a vehicle for the many leaders impacted by Campbell to pass on his insights for leadership and personal growth to the next generation.
"I am honored to be able to attend the Campbell Trophy Summit," stated Zambelli, who started working as a technical support analyst for Computer Aid, Inc. after graduating with a 4.0 GPA and degrees in economics and computer science. "The list of speakers and guests is tremendous. Having an opportunity to learn from such successful individuals will certainly help me in my development as I strive to advance in my career. I hope to be able to attend this event every year and even be lucky enough to speak someday. The Summit will be an amazing opportunity to absorb knowledge and get a chance to stay on Stanford's campus, which not many people get to do."
A four-day event, the 2019 Summit includes leadership workshops, a career expo, team building activities, a physical and mental competition dubbed the "Campbell Championship Series," a dinner cruise of San Francisco Bay and several other activities designed to build relationships. The panels will cover a wide range of topics designed to foster leadership, personal growth and the career development of the attendees. The sessions this year include a Hall of Fame panel with Ronnie Lott (USC) and 1983 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Steve Young (BYU); a workshop with Liz Wiseman, the author of The New York Times bestseller "Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter;" and sessions with Intuit CEO Brad Smith, SoFI CEO and former Army West Point linebacker Anthony Noto, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner and retired four-star General Stanley McChrystal.
Companies participating in the career expo include Altamont Capital, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deloitte, Enjoy, EY, Google, Intuit, JMI Sports, McChrystal Group, SoFi, Sonim Technologies, WeDriveU and the XFL as well as professionals from the medical and real state fields and several entrepreneurs from a diverse range of emerging companies.
"The things I'll miss most about football are the brotherhood and the daily grind," commented Zambelli as he heads into his first fall without football since being a young boy. "The bonds built on football teams last forever, and I'll certainly miss all my teammates and coaches. Being around people every day who have your back is such an incredible feeling, and it's one I'll miss. The daily grind of camp is such an underappreciated aspect of the game. There's nothing quite like being able to spend three weeks purely focused on football, surrounded by 100 other people doing exactly the same thing. This is where great friendships, teams, and people begin to establish themselves. Best of luck to the Hounds this season. I can't wait to see the team in action."
Moravian begins its 2019 season on Saturday, September 7 with a non-conference game at King's College kicking off at 6:00 p.m., one of two night games for the Greyhounds this fall.
