Pagano & Poling Selected to Serve as Football Team Captains Again in 2019

Moravian football names Brett Poling and Sal Pagano as 2019 team captains.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College football team has selected seniors Sal Pagano and Brett Poling as captains for the 2019 season, the second consecutive fall that the duo has been named captains for the Greyhounds.

"We are pleased to announce that Sal and Brett were voted by their teammates to be our captains again this fall," said ninth-year Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn, who was also a captain when he played for the Greyhounds from 1994-1996. "Both Sal and Brett are very well respected by their teammates and have done everything the right way on the field, in the classroom, as well as in the community. They are great ambassadors for Moravian College."

Pagano, a running back, has been limited to 14 games over his career due to injury, and he has three receptions for 35 yards to go with three tackles on special teams.

"Sal's work ethic and perseverance, along with his "Team first" attitude has put him in a captain role for a second season along with Brett," commented Pukszyn. "Sal has personally overcome setbacks due to injury, to only comeback stronger last year and have an outstanding offseason leading into his senior year."

Poling will be in his fourth season as a starter on the offensive line this season for Moravian having seen action at both right guard and center during his first 30 games in a Greyhound uniform. He was also selected to the 2017 and 2018 Centennial All-Conference Honorable Mention squad.

"Brett has countless snaps under his belt over the past three years for us on the offensive line," noted Pukszyn. "He works extremely hard physically and mentally to be the best at his position. He is a role model to the younger offensive linemen that he is with every day in practice. Brett is well respected by all his teammates which makes him such a good leader for us again this year."

Moravian opens the 2019 season with its only non-conference game of the year as the Hounds travel to King's College on Saturday, September 7 for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff. The Greyhounds will not play at Rocco Calvo Field until Saturday, September 14 when the team begins the 2019 Centennial Conference slate by hosting McDaniel College at 1:00 p.m.
