Pagano Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Sal Pagano named to Academic All-District Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College senior tight end/fullback Sal Pagano has been named to the 2019 Academic All-District Football Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® honors selected by CoSIDA, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 52 Greyhounds named Academic All-Americans® selected by CoSIDA.

By making the All-District First Team, Pagano is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on December 11. There are a total of 13 student-athletes from the Centennial Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

Pagano is majoring in health sciences at Moravian, and he has a perfect 4.0 GPA. Pagano is serving as a team captain for the Greyhounds this fall for a second straight season, and he has two receptions this fall and five career catches for 36 yards. He missed a combined 14 games over is first two seasons with injuries and was sidelined again this fall by another injury on November 2 versus Franklin & Marshall College.

"Sal, first and foremost, has been an absolutely tremendous ambassador for Moravian football and the College," stated Moravian College Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "He's a phenomenal student-athlete, and he gives back in the community. His effort, no matter whether it is on the field, in the community or in the classroom, is top notch, and Sal is a great model for our younger guys."

Off the field, Pagano is the two-time member of the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and he was selected one of 185 semifinalists across college football for the 2019 William V. Campbell Trophy Presented by Mazada.

Pagano also works with the 5 Star Heart project – weekly visits to local middle schools to engage with mentees, monthly mentor session involving a workout and discussion of program material, assist with clean up and remodel of Bethlehem Boys & Girls Club, coaches youths at various one-day camps. He has participated in Read Across America, in the Greyhounds' Be the Match Bone Marrow Donor Registration Drive, Moravian's Heritage Day of Community Service, spending time at Traditions of Hanover (retirement facility) for events such as bingo, spring fling and board game night, helping to tutor teammates and working at the Bethlehem Boys & Girls Club and a foreign exchange student football clinic.
