Golf Competes in Opening Round at Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational

HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team competed in the opening round of the Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational hosted by The University of Rochester at the Hershey Country Club Sunday.

The Greyhounds turned in an opening round team score of 352 at the tournament, which has the squad in 14th place of 14 teams.  St. John Fisher College is in first place with a team score of 313.

Junior Thomas Fenyak led the Moravian group with a round of 84 on the par 71 East Course at the Hershey Country Club that has him tied for 32nd of 73 golfers in the tournament.  Seniors Sam Stires and Scott Stires each turned in rounds of 89 in the opening round, which is tied for 58th while junior Aaron Thieme had a 90 in his first round of the spring.  Senior John Dimler also carded a 90 in the opening round. Thieme and Dimler are each tied for 63rd.

The Greyhounds will return to action in the second round of the Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational on Monday, April 9 at 8:00 a.m.
