Golfers Finish 12th at Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational

HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team moved up two places on the second day of competition to finish 12th of 14 teams at the Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester at the Hershey Country Club Monday.

The Greyhounds had a two-day team score of 703 while Empire 8 Conference rival St. John Fisher College won the 36-hole tournament with a team total of 638. Franklin & Marshall College placed second with a 651 team score while McDaniel College was third at 661.

Junior Thomas Fenyak led the Moravian individuals with a 36-hole total of 171 after a second round of 87 on the par 71 East Course at the Hershey Country Club. Fenyak was tied for 38th of 73 golfers in the tournament.  Senior Scott Stires finished in a tie for 44th after a total of 175 that included a second round of 175 while senior John Dimler tied for 53rd overall at 177 with a second round of 87.  Senior Sam Stires finished in a tie for 60th with a two-day total of 180 with a 91 in the final round while junior Aaron Thieme was 67th in the tournament with a 182 including a 92 on the second day.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Sunday and Monday, April 15 and 16 at the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational at the Glenmaura National Golf Course.
