Golfers 5th of 9 after 1st Day at Glenmaura Invitational

MOOSIC, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team is in fifth place of nine teams are the first day of action at the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational hosted by The University of Scranton Sunday.

The Greyhounds have had a team score of 314 after 18 holes on the Glenmaura National Golf Course while the host Royals are first overall with a 297. Swarthmore College in in second place with a team score of 306 followed by Gettysburg College at 306 and McDaniel College at 311.

Junior Thomas Fenyak leads the Moravian individuals with an opening round of 74 on the par 71 course, and Fenyak is tied for fourth of 45 golfers in the tournament.  Senior John Dimler is tied for ninth at 18 holes with a 76 while senior Scott Stires is tied for 20th with an opening round of 80.  Senior Sam Stires is tied for 32nd with a first round score of 84 while junior Tyler Thompson is tied for 38th after carding an 86.

The Greyhounds will play in the second round of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational on Monday, April 16 starting at 8:00 a.m.
