TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University junior Owen Nahf has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Nahf led the Greyhounds to a first-place finish of 15 teams at the Stockton University Osprey Open on Saturday. He was the runner-up of 132 runners in the meet with a time of 25:41.75 on the 8,000-meter race.
"Owen has had a lot of incremental steps coming back from his injury, and a full 8k was one of the last main checkpoints," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "Around the 4k mark, there was a small break in the field where the leader broke away and Owen was debating whether or not to risk going with him. In hindsight, both of us wish he did because we're confident, now, that he could have sustained the pace of the leader and set a new PR and possibly contended for the win. However, Owen was understandably cautious with this being one of his first races in eight months, and certainly his longest test since then. Regardless, he ran the second fastest time of his life while being cautious and feeling very controlled so we're both optimistic about how this could springboard the rest of his season."
The Hounds are schedule to compete again on Saturday, September 30 at the annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
