TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University junior Owen Nahf has been selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Nahf, who earned his second Landmark Conference honor of the season, paced the Hounds to a third-place team finish at the Rowan University Border Battle as he placed fourth among the 278 runners in the meet with a personal best time of 25:00.1 on the 8,000-meter course. Nahf's time is the seventh fastest in program history and makes him the third fastest Greyhound on an 8K course during his career. Moravian placed third of 31 teams at the meet.
"Owen has been feeling extremely good in workouts lately so we figured it was just a matter of having the right circumstances for him to post the times we knew he could," commented Director of Track & Field ad Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "We lucked out with the rain holding off on Saturday until after the races, so the course stayed in great shape which kept it quick, and the temperatures were perfect for distance running He immersed himself in the lead group from the gun which gave him room to pick the best tangents while running relaxed and being pushed by the faster runners. It wound up being about a 30 second PR and showed that he has the potential to be with the best runners in our region when we get to November and be in contention to make the NCAAs."
The Greyhounds have the week off before returning to action on Friday, October 27 in the 2023 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Juniata College at 11:00 a.m. on the Sunset Golf Course in Huntingdon. Moravian is looking to capture its third consecutive Landmark Conference title this fall.
