Greyhounds Sweep Wilkes for Sixth Straight Landmark Conference Victory

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team swept visiting Wilkes University, 7-0, in Landmark Conference action in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse Saturday. 

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds captured all three doubles contests to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Junior Izzy Szmodis and sophomore Leah Zolotareva began the match with a 6-1 win at first doubles while freshmen Nicole Kalorin and Ali Willis won 6-2 at second doubles. Sophomores Ali Bender and Sydney Shifman finished off the sweep of doubles with a 6-4 triumph at third doubles
  • Szmodis pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles while Zolotareva made it 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles. Shifman clinched the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at third singles while Kalorin posted a 7-5, 6-0 win at fourth singles. Willis recorded a 6-3, 7-5 victory at fifth singles while sophomore Katherine Georgiou finished the match with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at sixth singles
