COCOA BEACH, Fla. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a 4-3 victory over Wartburg (Iowa) College at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds earned the doubles point with victories at first and third doubles. The tandem of junior Izzy Szmodis and sophomore Leah Zolotareva posted a 6-2 win at first doubles while sophomores Sydney Shifman and Katherine Georgiou recorded a 6-2 triumph at third doubles
- The Knights opened singles with a win at second singles to knot the match at 1-1 before Zolotareva recorded a 7-5, 6-2 victory at first singles as the Hounds moved back in front 2-1. Wartburg posted a win at fourth singles to make it 2-2 overall while Shifman earned a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) triumph at third singles to give the Blue & Grey a 3-2 edge
- The Knights evened the contest once again at 3-3 with a victory at fifth singles before Georgiou won the match with a 0-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-7) win at sixth singles for the final team point
