Greyhound Women to Host Catholic in Landmark Conference Semifinal on May 2

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The top seeded Moravian University women's tennis squad is set to host fourth seed The Catholic University of America on Friday, May 2 in a 2025 Landmark Conference Tournament Semifinal match beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Winning Touch Tennis Lehigh Valley in Allentown.

The Greyhounds enter the contest with a 16-3 record this spring including a 9-0 mark in Landmark Conference action under the guidance of fourth-year Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. Moravian is in the postseason for the eighth consecutive year. The Hounds, who have won five Landmark Conference titles and a total of 13 conference championships in program history, defeated the Cardinals, 7-0 in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse on April 26 to cap Moravian's fifth undefeated Landmark Conference campaign since the conference began in 2007-08.

Sophomores Sydney Shifman and Leah Zolotareva and freshman Ali Willis all have posted 15-4 singles records while junior Izzy Szmodis is 14-5 on the year. Freshman Nicole Kalorin has an 11-7 singles slate while sophomore Ali Bender is 6-0 since returning from an injury. Freshman Jenna Gower is 4-2 in singles action while sophomore Katherine Georgiou is 3-2 in singles play.

The doubles tandem of Szmodis and Zolotareva has a 16-3 mark this season while Kalorin and Willis are 12-7 on the year. Shifman and Georgiou have teamed up for a 4-3 slate while Shifman has also combined with Gower for a 3-0 doubles mark and Shifman is 6-1 with Bender.

Catholic defeated fifth seed Drew University, 4-0, in the First Round to advance to the Semifinals while third seeded The University of Scranton posted a 4-1 win over sixth seed Juniata College to move on to face second seed Goucher College in Friday's other Semifinal.

The two winning teams on Friday will advance to the 2025 Landmark Conference Championship match on Sunday, May 4 at the Central Pennsylvania Tennis Center in Williamsport to determine the conference's automatic berth to the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament.
