PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. --- The Moravian College baseball team used a four-run rally in the ninth inning before falling to Ohio Wesleyan University, 7-6 in 10 innings, in the Greyhounds' first game at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Junior outfielder Anthony Gaetaniello led off the game with a single to become the 30th player in school history to reach 100 career hits, and Gaetaniello was 2-for-4 in the game. Sophomore designated hitter Logan Welles and freshman outfielder Austin Markowski were each 2-for-5 for the Greyhounds while senior third baseman Alex Bull had a double and three RBIs.

Sophomore Dan Morrin started on the mound for the Hounds, allowing nine hits and four runs, just two earned, in 5.1 innings of action while striking out six batters and walking none. Sophomore Nicholas Mazzella tossed 2.2 innings with two unearned runs on a hit and a walk to go with one strikeout while senior Hunter Guard took the loss with one run on three hits in one-plus innings of action.

The Battling Bishops jumped out to a 3-0 lead with single runs in the first, third and fifth innings. Moravian would get on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning when Gaetaniello reached on a fielder's choice, stole second base and scored on an RBI double by Markowski.

Ohio Wesleyan would get the run back in the bottom of the sixth before Moravian cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the seventh when senior catcher Mike Roethke hit an RBI ground out to score senior outfielder Cameron Leon, who had led off with a single. The Battling Bishops scored twice in the home half of the seventh for a 6-2 advantage.

In the top of the ninth, Leon was hit by a pitch and Roethke followed with a single to start things off. After an out, freshman second baseman Tim Heard connected on an RBI single to score Leon. Gaetaniello followed up the second out of the inning with a walk to load the bases for Bull, who drilled a three-RBI double to center field to tie the score.

The Blue and Grey loaded the bases in the top of the tenth but were unable to push a run across the plate while Ohio Wesleyan strung together three straight hits in the bottom of the tenth for the win.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, March 8 when the team makes the short trip to Winter Haven, Florida to play No. 19 Marietta (Ohio) College at 3:00 p.m.
