Greyhounds Fall to Keystone in 11 Innings

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team battled through 10 scoreless innings before falling to visiting Keystone College, 2-1 in 11 innings, in a non-conference game at Gillespie Field Thursday afternoon.

The Greyhounds had five hits in the contest with freshman right fielder Mike Mittl going 2-for-4, and Moravian scored once in the bottom of the 11th on an RBI single by senior third baseman Alex Bull.

The Blue and Grey had six pitchers make appearances on the mound with freshman Kevin Shields getting the start as he recorded one strikeout in two innings. Freshman Billy Roethke also pitched two innings with a strikeout while senior Anthony Martino had three strikeouts in his two innings of action. Senior Tommy Natale-Drown and sophomore Clay Weidemoyer both tossed two innings while senior first baseman/pitcher Charles Savite pitched the final inning and took the loss on the mound as Keystone scored twice in the top of the 11th including an unearned run.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 16 in a Landmark Conference doubleheader versus Susquehanna University beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field in Bethlehem.
