Moravian Picked 3rd in Centennial Conference Preseason Poll at #CCKickoff16

LANCASTER, Pa. --- Moravian College Head Football Coach Jeff Pukszyn and senior running back Chris Negron took part in the 2016 Centennial Conference Media Day (#CCKickoff16) at Franklin & Marshall College Wednesday.

The head coaches and a student-athlete from each of the conference's 10 schools met at F&M's Ann & Richard Barshinger Life Sciences & Philosophy Building for the annual get together. After a welcome from Centennial Conference Executive Director Steve Ulrich, the coaches and student-athletes rotated through three stations. Pukszyn and Negron both sat down for interviews that aired live and can be seen at www.centennialconference.tv.

The afternoon finished with the unveiling of the 2016 Centennial Conference Preseason Poll, which can be found at www.centennial.org, and a lunch with the coaches, student-athletes and media in attendance.

The Greyhounds, who were 8-3 last fall, are picked third in the poll with 132 points. Johns Hopkins University received 17 first-place votes and 159 points while being picked to win its eighth straight conference title. Muhlenberg College was second in the poll with two first place votes at 144 points while Franklin & Marshall was fourth with the final first place vote and 99 points.

"We've made some tremendous strides as a program over the last three years, and it is nice to be recognized by the conference for that improvement," commented Pukszyn. "We're more focused on preseason camp at this point to get prepared for the opening week against King's College. Our goal is to exceed this preseason ranking in November but we need to build a foundation from the start of camp to continue the improvement on the field."

Moravian reports to camp on Saturday, August 13 with 103 players on the current roster, and the Greyhounds will kick off their 2016 campaign on Saturday, September 3 in a non-conference game versus King's College beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.
