Hounds Begin 2015 with Conference Loss to Susquehanna

Bethlehem, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team faced off with Susquehanna University on Saturday in Johnston Hall in a 79-57 loss in Landmark Conference play.

Sophomore guard Sean Hanna led the Hounds with 11 points, one rebound, two assists and one steal. Sophomore forward Brandon McGuire had a career-high 13 rebounds to go with nine points, one steal and one assist. Senior guard Izel Dickerson had 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals while junior guard Jarrod Dilts scored seven points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Garrett Kashmer netted six points, four rebounds and one block while junior forward Ryan O'Neil put up four points, four rebounds and one block.

The Greyhounds would go on a 13-point run leading the Crusaders 17-4 with just over 11 minutes to play in the first half. Susquehanna would cut the deficit to two with 7:30 left to play. McGuire and Kashmer would hit back-to-back shots giving the Hounds a six-point lead. The Crusaders would take the lead for the first time in the game with 3:23 left in the first half and hold onto it the rest of the game. Susquehanna held a six point lead, 30-24, as both teams headed into the locker room at halftime.

Shortly into the second half, Dilts would cut the lead down to four after he drew a foul on a layup and converted the free throw into a three-point play. Susquehanna ultimately went on an extended run that the Greyhounds couldn't bounce back from as the Crusaders took the contest.

The Blue and Grey return to Johnston Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5 for a non-conference game against Rutgers-Camden.
