McGuire Posts Double-Double at Drew

MADISON, N.J. --- Sophomore forward Brandon McGuire picked up his seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds, however; the Moravian College men's basketball team ended up falling at Drew University, 91-78, in Landmark Conference action Thursday.

McGuire, who had 10 points in the first half, was just one point shy of matching his career high in the game and he had a pair of blocked shots while freshman forward Riley Hengler did tie his career best with 12 points. Hengler added five rebounds in 12 minutes of action. Sophomore guard Sean Hanna and junior Ryan O'Neil each tossed in nine points for the Greyhounds with O'Neil adding four boards as he scored a career high in his first season at Moravian.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Jennings added eight points, three rebounds and three assists while junior guard Jarrod Dilts had seven points, three assists and eight boards to tie a career high. Freshman guard Matt Cardonne continued to be hot behind the three-point line for a second game, knocking down 2-of-5 treys for six points, and he added a career-high three rebounds.

Moravian had an early 3-2 lead just 1:33 into action after a three-pointer from Dilts, and the Hounds trailed 8-7 at the 16:45 mark before the Rangers when on a 21-10 run to take control of the game with a 39-17 advantage. Drew was 11-of-19 beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes, heading to the locker room with a 51-37 lead.

The Greyhounds would cut the deficit to eight points twice early in the second half, the final time on a lay-up by Hanna 2:27 into the half but the Rangers answered again, this time with a 10-0 run.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Saturday, January 10 when the squad heads to Elizabethtown College for a Landmark Conference game tipping off at 4:00 p.m.
