BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer squad earned a 3-1 non-conference victory over Centenary (N.J.) University on a rainy John Makuvek Field Wednesday afternoon.

"It was an all around great performance by the team today," commented Head Coach Todd Ervin. "We defended well and were accurate in front of goal and finished our chances. We need to continue to improve and put together strong performances so that we are peaking once conference play begins."

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when freshman forward Ethan Blakely  scored his first collegiate goal when he tapped in a crossing pass from senior midfielder Connor Phillips into the left side of the net. Moravian doubled the score in the 27th minute when freshman midfielder Alec Aloia took a slotted pass from sophomore midfielder Dylan Evande and put it into the left corner for Aloia's first collegiate marker.

The Cyclones cut the Hounds' lead in half in the 51st minute. The Blue and Grey would answer back in the 69th minute when senior midfielder William Demmel headed in a corner kick from senior midfielder Brett Lubben.

Moravian senior goalie Bryan Yaskowski record three saves in his third victory of the season, and the Greyhounds finished the contest with a 20-8 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, September 9 when the squad hosts Wilkes University in a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
