Women's Basketball Hosts Pair of Conference Games This Weekend

The Moravian College women's basketball team (12-8, 5-4 Landmark) is set to host a pair of Landmark Conference games this weekend. Susquehanna University comes to town Friday, February 3rd and nationally-ranked #13/#11 Juniata College will play the Hounds on Saturday, February 4th in the Play 4Kay Breast Cancer Awareness Game.

Last weekend the Greyhounds defeated Goucher College, 62-44 on Friday, but fell to The Catholic University of America on a last second shot, 56-55.

Leading scorer: Senior forward Alexandra Blair is leading Moravian with 13.8 points per game this season, ranking her third in the Landmark Conference.

Owning the Paint: Alexandra Blair is ranked ninth in NCAA Division III, averaging 3.6 blocks per game. As a team, Moravian ranks first in the nation with 7.4 blocks a game.

Floor General: Senior guard Hilary Murray is ranked in the Landmark Conference, dishing out 3.67 assists per game.

Standout Rookie: Freshman Alexis Wright is having a stellar year, ranking tenth in the conference with 11.3 points per game and fifth in rebounds with 7.9 per contest.

Susquehanna: Susquehanna (4-16, 1-8 Landmark) is led by senior guard Korey McCaffrey, who ranks 13th in the conference with ten points per game, and junior forward Gina Palazzi, who is ranked third in the conference with 8.3 rebounds a game. Moravian defeated the Crusaders earlier this season, 80-68.

Juniata: #13/#11 Juniata (19-1, 9-0 Landmark) is led by senior guard Ashton Bankos, who ranks second in the conference with 14.2 points per contest. Bankos enters this weekend needing only 11 points to reach 1,000 career points at Juniata. Sophomore forward Kate McDonald is leading the Landmark Conference with 9.2 boards per game. The Eagles defeated the Greyhounds 77-55 in their first meeting this season.

Landmark Conference: #13/#11 Juniata College (19-1, 9-0) sits in first place and is the only team to clinch a postseason berth thus far. The Catholic University of America (16-4, 7-2) and The University of Scranton (12-8, 7-2) are currently tied for second place. Moravian College (12-8, 5-4) sits in fourth place. Sitting on the bubble to make the Landmark Conference Tournament is the United States Merchant Marine Academy (7-11, 3-6) and Drew University (7-13, 3-6). Goucher College (5-15, 1-8) and Susquehanna University (4-16, 1-8) are tied for seventh place.

Next Weekend: Moravian travels to Drew University on Friday and USMMA on Saturday.
