Blair Named to Landmark All-Conference First Team while Wright Earns Rookie of the Year

MADISON, N.J. – Senior forward Alexandra Blair of the Moravian College women's basketball team has been named to the 2012 Landmark All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Alexis Wright earned Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year honors announced Thursday.

The voting for the All-Conference Team took place after the conclusion of the regular season and prior to the start of the Landmark postseason. The conference's eight head coaches were the voters.

Blair led the Greyhounds this season with 85 blocks, 13.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She also shot .459 (141-of-307) from the field to go with her 50 assists and 23 steals. Blair recorded one triple-double and nine double-doubles. She also was named Landmark Conference Player of the Week twice (12/12/11; 1/16/12). Blair is the school-record holder with 298 blocked shots, and she is seventh all-time with 695 rebounds and 22nd with 1,008 points in 109 career games.

Wright ranked second on the squad with 46 blocks, 11.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest. She also had 21 assists and ranked third on the team with 40 steals. Wright tallied five double-doubles on the year. She also earned Landmark Conference Player of the Week once (1/9/12).

The Greyhounds fell to nationally-ranked #10 Juniata in the Landmark Conference Semifinals Wednesday evening. Moravian now waits to find out if they made the ECAC South Tournament, which will be announced on Monday, February 27th.
