Hounds Host 2015 Pink Zone Clinic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team hosted an enthusiastic group of boys and girls in 2nd through 8th grade at its 4th Annual Pink Zone Clinic in Johnston Hall on Thursday night as part of its Play 4Kay Week.

Assistant coaches Sara Steinman and Amy Endler along with the entire Greyhound squad taught the kids proper techniques for stretching, passing, defense, dribbling and shooting during the two-hour clinic. The event ended with a couple of shooting games.

"It was great to work with the group of kids that came out last night not only to work on their basketball skills but also to help support a great cause," commented junior forward Karlee Corvasce. "I had a fun time working with them; they were a great enthusiastic bunch that wanted to learn and play.

"Working to raise money for Play 4Kay has been one of my favorite parts of our season," Corvasce continued. "I think by how we work to raise the money as a team and all the hard work that the coaches put in for the event makes it that much more meaningful to everyone who comes out to support us on the court and the cause."

A $10 donation was requested as entry into the clinic, with the proceeds benefitting Moravian's Play 4Kay Week and onto the Kay Yow Cancer Fund

The 2015 Play 4Kay initiative is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. Since its inception in 2007, the Play 4Kay initiative has raised over $3 million to support women's cancer research. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative.

Over the last six years, the Moravian has won the Play 4Kay contest at the NCAA Division III level each season. The contest is an effort to reward participating teams in the Play 4Kay who are also raising funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund®, in partnership with The V Foundation. The Greyhounds have raised a total of $57,933.

Moravian's Play 4Kay week began on Sunday, February 8 with the 4th Annual Pink Zone Clinic in Springfield, New Jersey, and the week will conclude on Saturday, February 14 when the Greyhounds host their annual Alumni game at noon before hosting Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference contest at 2:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
