Wright Named to D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region 2nd Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Moravian College senior forward Alexis Wright has been selected to the 2015 D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team.

Wright has received multiple honors this season, making the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second time in her career and also been named the 2015 Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Wright was on the D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team in 2013.

This season, Wright averaged a double-double of 15.6 points and a school-record 12.1 rebounds per game, and she had 18 double-doubles in 2014-15 and 41 for her career. Wright led the Hounds with 65 blocked shots and 59 steals to go with 41 assists this winter. Wright, who was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2013 before missing 20 games in 2013-14 due to an injury, completed her career second in school history with 948 career rebounds and 204 career blocked shots, and she ranks eighth all-time in scoring with 1,341 points in 93 career games. Wright's career rebounding average of 10.2 per contest is nearly a whole rebound higher than Kathy Beck's previous mark of 9.3.

"This honor for Alexis is another example of the terrific year she had," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "The second team award is a great achievement, as it recognizes she is one of the top 10 players in our region. We are proud of Alexis as she represents Moravian College and the women's basketball team."

Wright helped Moravian to a 15-12 overall record this winter and the program's 14th straight postseason appearance as the Blue and Grey played in the 2015 ECAC Division III South Tournament. The fourth seeded Greyhounds reached the semifinals before falling to top seed Albright College.
