Wright Named to ECAC Division III South All-Star 2nd Team

DANBURY, Conn. --- Senior forward Alexis Wright from the Moravian College women's basketball team has been named to the 2015 ECAC Division III South All-Star Second Team.

The honor wraps up an outstanding senior campaign for Wright, who was also honored on the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second time in her career and the 2015 D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team. Wright was also the 2015 Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

This past winter, Wright averaged a double-double of 15.6 points and a school-record 12.1 rebounds per contest, and she had 18 double-doubles in 2014-15 and 41 for her career. Wright led the Hounds with 65 blocked shots and 59 steals to go with 41 assists this season. Wright, who made the D3hoops.com All-Region First Team in 2013, completed her career second in school history with 948 career rebounds and 204 career blocked shots, and she ranks eighth all-time in scoring with 1,341 points in 93 career games. Wright's career rebounding average of 10.2 per contest is nearly a whole rebound higher than Kathy Beck's previous mark of 9.3. She was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2013 before missing 20 games in 2013-14 due to an injury.

"Alexis' ECAC selection continues to acknowledge what a great year she had for us," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "This honor recognizes the hard work and determination that Alexis put in to return to play at such a high level."

Wright helped the Greyhounds to a 15-12 overall record this winter and the program's 14th straight postseason appearance as the Blue and Grey played in the 2015 ECAC Division III South Tournament. Fourth seeded Moravian reached the semifinals before falling to top seed Albright College.
