Wright and Dalickas Honored at LVAIAW

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- Seniors Alexis Wright and Jenn Dalickas were both honored with awards in their respected sports while sharing the title of Moravian College's LVAIAW Outstanding Athlete for the school at the 2015 Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Annual Awards luncheon at DeSales University Tuesday.

The LVAIAW is made up of seven schools, Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Moravian and Muhlenberg College.  For more information on the LVAIAW, visit www.lvaiaw.org.

Dalickas was the LVAIAW Women's Softball Most Outstanding Athlete. She helped Moravian to its sixth Landmark Conference Championship and to its 15th NCAA Division III tournament. Moravian is currently ranked No. 24 with the help of Dalickas who has played in 38 games for the Greyhounds, has a .510 batting average, with 49 hits, 41 runs, driven in 32 RBIs and drawn a school-record 42 walks for a .667 on-base percentage. Dalickas also leads the Greyhounds with 12 doubles, and she has connected on nine home runs to set the school record with 35 in her career. Dalickas has a .917 slugging percentage. Dalickas, was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2014 and 2012 and the Second Team in 2013 and again in 2015 became just the third member of Moravian softball to reach 200 hits while being named Landmark Conference Player of the Year for a second straight spring.

"Jenn has been a key contributor with big hits all season which has teams trying to pitch around her," commented Head Coach John Byrne. "We've made adjustments and have her hitting lead off to give us a runner to start the game and with the whole line up hitting behind her this makes her just as dangerous. She is hitting for power as she broke the career home run record, and taking the ball the opposite way when teams try to pitch her outside. Her numbers this season are just a glimpse of why she deserves this award."

Wright was honored as the LVAIAW Outstanding Basketball Athlete for the second time in her career, earning it in 2013. Wright was also honored as Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second time in her career and the 2015 D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team.

This past winter, Wright averaged a double-double of 15.6 points and a school-record 12.1 rebounds per contest, and she had 18 double-doubles in 2014-15 and 41 in her career. Wright led the Hounds with 65 blocked shots and 59 steals to go with 41 assists this past season. Wright, who made the D3hoops.com All-Region First Team in 2013, completed her career second in school history with 948 career rebounds and 204 career blocked shots, and she ranks eighth all-time in scoring with 1,341 points in 93 career games. Wright's career rebounding average of 10.2 per contest is nearly a whole rebound higher than Kathy Beck's previous mark of 9.3. She was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2013 before missing 20 games in 2013-14 due to an injury.

"It is quite an accomplishment for Alexis to win the LVAIAW basketball award for the 2nd time in in three years," stated Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Her desire to be the best and return from her junior year injury completed a tremendous career for her. Alexis put in the work and her efforts paid off as she received this great award."
