WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College softball team swept its second straight Landmark Conference doubleheader, defeating host The Catholic University of America, 8-3 and 6-0, Thursday afternoon as the Greyhounds extended their winning streak to 12 games.

The Hounds, now 12-2 overall and 4-0 in Landmark action, ripped out 13 hits in the opening contest with senior center fielder Dior George going 3-for-5. Freshman catcher Janae Matos was 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored while senior first baseman Jenn Dalickas had a pair of doubles and three RBIs in her two official at-bats. Junior right fielder Mary Schlosbon also had two hits in the opener.

Freshman pitcher Josie Novak won her sixth straight decision in the circle, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks to go with five strike outs.

Moravian jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with George starting the game with a single and Dalickas earning a one-out walk before a two-RBI single by senior second baseman Lizzie Mack.

The Blue & Grey would extend the lead to 5-0 with three more runs in the top of the third inning as Dalickas delivered a two-RBI double down the left field line before Schlosbon crossed the plate on an RBI single from sophomore designated player Abby Jeffries.

Catholic scored twice in the third inning and once in the fourth frame to cut Moravian's advantage to 5-3.

The Hounds scored twice in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by George and an RBI double from Dalickas, and the Greyhounds finished off the scoring in the opener with a single run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single off of Matos' bat.

Moravian scored six times on just seven hits in the second game as freshman hurler Amanda Carisone tossed her fifth shutout of the season, scattering five hits and a walk to go along with six strikeouts.

Schlosbon led the Hounds at the plate with a pair of hits while George drove in two RBIs in the victory.

The Greyhounds did all of the offensive damage in the top of the third frame as all six runs scored after George and Schlosbon started the inning with outs. Junior shortstop Lindsay Sullivan drove in what was the winning run with an RBI bases loaded walk, and sophomore left fielder Julie Siragusa followed with another RBI base on balls. Sophomore third baseman Chrissy Marinaro drew a third straight RBI walk before Sullivan scored on a wild pitch. After another walk, George came back to the plate for the second time in the inning and connected on a two RBI single to left field.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 4 with another road Landmark Conference doubleheader as the Greyhounds head to Madison, New Jersey to take on Drew University with first pitch of the twinbill slated for 1:00 p.m.
