Novak Earns Landmark Softball Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College freshman pitcher Josie Novak helped lead the softball team sweep their first Landmark Conference games this past Friday and she was honored as the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance.

Novak improve to 5-1 in the circle this season with her second career shutout over Elizabethtown College, 2-0, in the opening game of the doubleheader. Novak allowed only four hits and walked two batters while striking out four.

"Josie had a nice run coming out of Florida and I was glad to see her continue that in the conference opener," commented Head Coach John Byrne. "She kept a decent hitting Elizabethtown off balance and I thought she had good stuff that day. Hopefully we can give more offense behind her next time, but I was very happy with how she responded to the home conference opener and I look forward to seeing that continue in this season."

The Greyhounds, 10-2 overall and winners of 10 straight contests, return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 31 when they travel for a non-conference twinbill against Hunter College with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Randall's Island in New York City.
