Softball Headed to DePauw for NCAA Super Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The No. 17 ranked Moravian College softball team is heading to DePauw University for the 2015 NCAA Division III Softball Super Regionals beginning on Friday, May 15.The Greyhounds, who are 37-6, begin play as the home team at 12:00 p.m. Friday for game one in a best-of-three series against the Tigers who defeated top seed Trine University in Regional play.

On Saturday, the teams will meet again at 10:00 a.m. with DePauw serving as the home team, and the if necessary game set for 12:30 p.m. if the squads split the first two games to determine the team to advance. The eight Super Regional winners will advance to the NCAA Division III World Series in Salem, Virginia from May 21-26 at the Moyer Sports Complex.

Moravian Head Coach John Byrne has guided the Greyhounds to a 37-6 mark this season, the fifth time in school history the program has won at least 37 games in a season, and the squad is tied with three other teams at 37 wins while the 2004 squad set the school record with 40 victories. The Hounds are making their 15th NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and their first since 2012.

Byrne, who is 712-219 in 22 seasons, has led the program to a 38-30 mark in NCAA Tournament action, and the Greyhounds won NCAA Regional titles in 2004, 2007 and 2010 for berths in the NCAA Division III World Series. Moravian played for the national title in 2004, finishing as the runner-up.

Moravian and DePauw have met once previously in the NCAA Tournament with the Tigers posting a 4-2 win in the opening round of the 2007 NCAA Division III World Series at the Moyer Sports Complex.
