Dalickas, George, Mack Named 2015 Softball Captains

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Seniors first basemen Jenn Dalickas and outfielders Dior George and Lizzie Mack of the Moravian College softball team have been named captains for the 2015 season.

Each one brings a wealth of experience playing the last three seasons under Head Coach John Byrne, who is entering his 22nd year just 25 wins shy of his 700 for his career. He expects nothing but the best out of his seniors and will look to them to help motivate and lead by example for the underclassmen.

"All three bring unique leadership qualities, not only on the field, but also in the classroom and on campus," commented Byrne. "They will be very capable resources for both myself and the team based on their diverse personalities. They have a good perspective of the program and the experience of winning a conference championship and competing in the NCAA Tournament."

Dalickas is coming off a 2014 season with a .505 (54-for-107) average at the plate to go with a .991 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage, she had 54 hits, 38 runs scored and a school record 53 RBIs along with 12 doubles, two triples and 12 home runs. Dalickas was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the third year and was honored with Player of the Year. Dalickas was also selected as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association/Louisville Slugger Second Team All-American.

George was also a Landmark All-Conference First Team honoree for the third year and is looking to build off last year's numbers. She had a .443 (43-for-97) batting average, a .525 on-base percentage and a .680 slugging percentage that included 43 hits, 42 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples and two homeruns, 18 RBIs and six stolen bases. George enters her final season as Moravain's school record holder in runs scored with 143 and tied for 10th in career hits with 158.

Mack who will be stepping away from the mound and settle in in the outfield played in 33 games while starting in 30 for the Greyhounds last season. Mack had a .338 batting average, .441 on-base percentage, .481 slugging percentage with 26 hits she had six doubles, one triple and one homerun that included 30 runs scored and 21 RBIs. Mack was been named to the Landmark All-Conference teams for the past two years, making First Team last spring after earning Second Team in 2013.

The Hounds get things started in Florida on Sunday, March 8 with games at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. against Fontbonne (Mo.) University and Millikin (Ill.) University at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla..
