Carisone Named ECAC DIII South Co-Pitcher of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College freshman pitcher Amanda Carisone has been honored the ECAC Division III South Co-Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

Carisone helped the Greyhounds record an 8-0 slate two end their week at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida. The Greyhounds returned from Spring Break trip with an 8-2 overall record.

Carisone posted a 4-0 mark in the circle with a 0.22 ERA and three shutouts, and she pitched a total of 32 innings during the week while winning three extra-inning contests. Carisone gave up three runs, only one of them earned, on 19 hits and two walks while recording 19 strikeouts.

She started the week with a 3-0, nine-inning win over Salve Regina (R.I.) University that included five strikeouts, and then she pitched a 4-3, eight-inning victory over Berry (Ga.) College with four strikeouts and no walks. Carisone added seven strikeouts and no walks in a 1-0 win over SUNY Oneonta, and she completed the week with a 1-0, eight-inning victory versus Haverford College that included one walk and three strikeouts.

"You really couldn't have asked for a better start from Amanda in Florida last week," stated Byrne. "We all had a rough first day but everyone bounced back, especially Amanda, who faced and beat some good quality opponents. We're excited to see what she can do in the circle the rest of the season and throughout her career."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action in a non-conference doubleheader at Neumann University on Thursday, March 19 beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Aston, Pennslyvania.
