Hounds Clinch Berth in 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament in Win at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse team clinched a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the second straight year with a 21-5 victory at Juniata College Saturday afternoon.

The Greyhounds, who are now 9-4 overall and 4-1 in Landmark Conference action, clinched the postseason appearance with the win and with Drew University defeating Elizabethtown College.

The Blue and Grey had 11 different players score in the victory with junior attack Liz Bill leading the way with five goals and an assist to go with six draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore attack Danielle Sullivan netted three goals while senior attack Jillian Picciuto had two goals, six assists, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Meaghan McMullan netted two goals with an assist while senior attack Dalia Aguilar and freshman midfielder Lindsey Strohl each had two goals with Strohl adding four draw controls and two ground balls.

Senior attack Kyleigh Miller had a goal and an assist while senior attack Jessica Pissano, sophomore attack Breanna Federico and freshmen attacks Eliza Fantazzi and Kelsey Moore each netted one goal.

Senior goalie Kelley Gavin posted four saves in 22 minutes of action as she became the first goalie in school history to record 30 wins, and sophomore goalie Courtney Heist played the final 38 minutes. Senior defender Melissa Webber contributed three ground balls and two caused turnovers while sophomore defender Olivia Clearie had eight draw controls and two ground balls and freshman midfielder/defender Jamie Bader scooped up three ground balls with a pair of caused turnovers.

Sullivan opened the scoring 2:10 into the match, and when Bill netted her third goal at the 16:12 mark, the Blue and Grey had a 6-0 lead. Bill would connect on her fourth goal of the afternoon with just over a minute left in the first half to send the Hounds to the intermission with a 13-3 lead. The Greyhounds netted the first six goals of the second half with Pisano's first goal of the season making it a 19-3 contest.

Moravian is slated return to action on Monday, April 15 in a non-conference match versus FDU-Florham beginning at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
