SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse squad fell to No. 18 The University of Scranton, 21-16, in Landmark Conference action on the road to complete the 2019 regular season.

The Greyhounds end the regular season at 12-5 overall and 5-2 in Landmark Conference play, and the Blue and Grey will be the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament for a second straight year and make a return trip to Scranton on Wednesday, May 1 for a Semifinal match beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Moravian had five goal scorers on Saturday with junior attack Liz Bill netting five goals and an assist to go with 12 draw controls. Senior attack Jillian Picciuto added four goals, two assists and a draw control while sophomore midfielder Meaghan McMullan and freshman midfielder Lindsey Strohl each had hat tricks with Strohl adding one draw control. Sophomore attack Danielle Sullivan added a goal and an assist for the Hounds.

Senior goalie Kelley Gavin recorded 12 saves in 52 minutes of action while sophomore Courtney Heist had one save in eight minutes. Sophomore defender Olivia Clearie contributed four draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while freshman defender Jamie Bader had two ground balls.

Scranton scored the opening goal of the match before Bill made it a 1-1 contest five minutes into action. The Royals tallied twice before Bill knotted the score again at 3-3. Scranton took the lead for good with the next two tallies by Sullivan made it a one-goal contest at 5-4 with 14:56 left in the first half. The Royals scored four straight goals while the Greyhounds netted four of the last five goals of the half including three by McMullan to cut the deficit to 10-8 at the intermission.

Scranton would take control at the start of the second half with three straight goals and seven of the first eight tallies of the half to take a 17-9 lead. The Hounds would get within five goals on three occasions over the final 14 minutes but weren't able to close the gap anymore.

The squads will play in a rematch in four days when then meet in the Landmark Conference Semifinals at Scranton on Wednesday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m.
