Hounds Name Tiger & Szaro as 2018 Women's Volleyball Captains

Erin Tiger '19 and Alexis Szaro '20 named 2018 women's volleyball team captains.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team has named senior Erin Tiger and junior Alexis Szaro as its team captains for the 2018 season.

"I'm very excited to announce that Erin and Lexie are our 2018 captains for the volleyball squad this year," stated 26-year Head Coach Shelley Bauder. "Both of these young ladies excel in the classroom and are good leaders on and off the court and I know they will do a good job leading this team along with our other upperclassman."

Tiger, a middle blocker heading into her fourth season, enters the fall just 178 kills shy of becoming the 12th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills, and she is already 11th all-time with 178 blocks. Tiger has recorded her 822 kills and 178 blocks along with 93 digs, 18 service aces and 18 assists in 96 career matches.

Szaro is in her third season as a defensive specialist. She has 473 digs, 48 service aces and 23 assists in her first two years with the Hounds.

Moravian is slated to begin the 2018 campaign on Friday, August 31 when the squad hosts the opening day of the 16th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational with matches versus Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) University at 4:00 p.m. and Ursinus College at 8:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
