Greyhounds Fall in Three Sets to Muhlenberg in Non-Conference Action

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team fell to rival Muhlenberg College, 3-0, in non-conference action in Johnston Hall Thursday evening.

The Greyhounds trailed 7-2 in the opening set before junior setter Victoria Kauffman served the Blue and Grey back to a 10-10 tie. The Mules pulled ahead again 18-11 before junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro and senior middle blocker Erin Tiger pulled the Hounds back within two points 22-20 before Muhlenberg captured the set 25-23.

The Mules took an early lead in the second set and won 25-8 to take a 2-0 lead. The Mules had another early advantage in the third set before Kauffman served Moravian into a 6-6 tie. The Greyhounds had the set tied again at 15-15 with freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson serving. However, Muhlenberg scored 10 of the final 13 points for a 25-18 set win to capture the match.

Tiger paced the Greyhounds with 11 kills and three digs while senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider and freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa both had four kills. Freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach contributed three kills and six digs while Hudson finished with two kills.

Kauffman contributed 22 assists and six digs for Moravian while Szaro added a team-high nine digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky had five digs while freshman libero Ally Locy added four digs.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 20 when the squad hosts Montclair State University in a non-conference match beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Johnston Hall to start the Greyhounds' Homecoming day of action.
