Hounds Drop Back-and-Forth Match at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball came up short in a back-and-forth match at Cabrini University Tuesday evening, falling 3-0 in the non-conference contest.

In the opening set, the Greyhounds rallied from an 8-4 deficit to take a 9-8 lead, and the squad was also down 21-17 before coming back to take a 24-23 lead. The Cavaliers eventually won the set, 28-26. The Blue and Grey pulled ahead early in the second set and would lead 13-9. The Hounds had a 15-12 advantage in the set before Cabrini scored seven straight points to take a lead and go on to win the set, 25-19. Moravian jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the third set and led by as many as four points on three occasions including 20-16. However, the Cavaliers scored nine of the final 12 points to capture the set 25-23 and the match.

Seniors middle blocker Erin Tiger and outside hitter Brooke Kusmider each had 11 kills for the Greyhounds with Tiger adding five digs and four blocks. Freshman right side hitter Katie Hudson added five kills and a pair of service aces while freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa had four kills and four blocks. Freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach contributed five digs and a pair of kills while sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky had 13 digs and two kills.

Junior setter Victoria Kauffman paced the Hounds' offense with 32 assists and three digs while junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro contributed 11 digs. Freshman libero Ally Locy added five digs while freshman right side hitter Jess Appleton had four blocks.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Thursday, September 20 when the Greyhounds host Farmingdale State (N.Y.) College in a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
