Hounds Split on Second Day of Cougar Clash at Misericordia University

DALLAS, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball split a pair of matches on the second day of the Cougar Clash at Misericordia University Saturday afternoon, defeating Wilson College, 3-0, and falling to host Misericordia, 3-1.

The Greyhounds, now 5-4 on the season, swept Wilson by set scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-13. Junior setter Victoria Kauffman led the squad with eight kills, 35 assists, five digs and three service aces while senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider added seven kills and four digs. Senior middle blocker Erin Tiger contributed six kills, four digs and two blocks while freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach had five kills, five service aces and seven digs. Senior outside hitter Rachel Farmer added four kills and a pair of digs while freshman opposite hitter Sela Herber contributed three kills.

Junior defensive specialist Alexis Szaro had a team-high eight digs while freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa added three blocks. Sophomore right side hitter Emerson Gieryic, freshman opposite hitter Jess Appleton and freshman middle blocker Paige Kowalski each had two kills with Gieryic adding two assists. Freshman libero Ally Locy and sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky each had four digs while freshman outside hitter Katie Hudson had three digs and a kill.

The Hounds finished the tournament, falling to host Misericordia, 25-13, 28-26, 22-25, 25-22. Tiger led Moravian with 15 kills to go with two blocks while Kauffman had 35 assists, nine digs, two kills and two blocks. Both Tiger and Kauffman were named to the All-Tournament Team. Kusmider contributed 11 kills, five digs and three assists against the Cougars while Mapa had 10 kills, three blocks and three assists. Driesbach added seven kills, 15 digs and four assists while Herber had three kills and a pair of digs. Hudson contributed two kills while Pavlinsky had six digs and Szaro added five digs.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, September 11 when the Greyhounds host Franklin & Marshall College in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
