TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University sophomore forward Reed Sturza has been named as the Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Sturza helped the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record in non-conference action last week while being named the MVP of the Brick City Classic hosted by Rutgers-Newark with a total of four goals and an assist for the week. Sturza was limited to two shots, just one on goal in the Greyhounds' 4-1 loss at Ramapo. He then had two goals including the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime in a 3-2, double-overtime victory over TCNJ. Sturza took nine shots in the match with four on goal. He finished the week with two more goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over host Rutgers-Newark as Sturza took seven shots with five on the goal.
"Congratulations to Reed Sturza for being named Athlete of the Week," stated Head Coach Bob Wilkinson. "Reed played a big part in our two wins this weekend. After scoring in Double overtime in a win on Friday, he added two goals and an assist in Sunday's game against Rutgers-Newark. It was an exciting weekend for the team as they won the Brick City Classic hosted by Rutgers-Newark."
The Greyhounds, who are 3-1 this fall, are slated to return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 15 in a non-conference contest versus Montclair States University beginning at 5:30 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
