EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's soccer squad nearly rallied from a 2-0 deficit before falling to host Wilkes University, 3-2, in non-conference action Wednesday evening.
How It Happened
- The Colonels jumped out to a 1-0 lead exactly 15 minutes into action with a shot into the top right corner of the net. That would be the only goal of the first half
- Wilkes doubled its edge to 2-0 in the 54th minute on a chip shot up over the keeper
- Moravian cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 61st minute when senior midfielder Anthony Nagy drilled a free kick into the upper right corner
- The Colonels pushed the lead back to two goals at 3-1 in the 80th minute with a shot into the left side of the net
- The Greyhounds pulled within a goal again with just 44 seconds remaining when junior midfielder Carson Snyder buried a corner kick from senior midfielder Alec Aloia
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian senior goalie Mason LeSage had seven saves to tie his career high
- Nagy's marker was his first of the season and the 14th of his Moravian career
- Snyder picked up his second goal of the year and of his career while Aloia registered his second assist of 2021 and sixth of his career
- The Greyhounds had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks while Wilkes out-shot the Hounds 17-16
